  • Subfolder gitignore and gitattributes

I'm transferring some sources to a git repo.
The git repo has its own .gitignore and .gitattributes files in root folder.

One of the transferred subfolders also include .gitignore and .gitattributes which apply the rules to that subfolder.

Is there a way to track those .git files in git but force them not to apply?

    Thanks,

    Haim

If the files are there and properly named with properly formatted contents then they will be honored by Git commands.

Could you explain what your use case is that would have them not applied?

For reference, per "man 5 gitignore", "Files already tracked by Git are not affected", so if you need something to be tracked, just "git add" that something and be done.
